Your Non-Custodial Wallet
Unlike most copytrading platforms, Polyfollow gives you complete ownership of your trading wallet. Here's what that means and why it matters.
What is a Non-Custodial Wallet?
| Custodial (Traditional) | Non-Custodial (Polyfollow) |
|---|---|
| Platform holds your funds | You hold your funds |
| Platform controls the keys | You own the private key |
| Withdraw requires approval | Withdraw anytime |
| Platform can freeze funds | Impossible to freeze |
| Trust the company | Trust no one (trustless) |
Bottom line: With Polyfollow, your money is in YOUR wallet at all times. We execute trades on your behalf, but we can never take, freeze, or lock your funds.
How Your Polyfollow Wallet Works
When you sign up, we automatically create a dedicated Polygon wallet for you:
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Network | Polygon (MATIC) |
| Currency | USDC stablecoin |
| Private Key | Encrypted and stored securely |
| Ownership | 100% yours |
| Exportable | Yes - anytime |
This wallet is a real blockchain address. You can view it on Polygonscan, send funds to it from any exchange, or import it into MetaMask.
Exporting Your Private Key
You can export your private key from Settings → Export Private Key.
When to Export
| Reason | Recommended? |
|---|---|
| Backup | Yes - store a copy safely |
| Use in MetaMask | Yes - access from any device |
| Self-withdraw | Yes - if you prefer direct control |
| Platform issues | Yes - always have a backup plan |
How to Export
- Go to Settings in your dashboard
- Scroll to Security section
- Click "Export Private Key"
- Confirm your identity
- Copy your private key immediately
Private Key Security
Your private key is like the master password to your funds. Anyone with this key can access your wallet.
Do's
| Action | Why |
|---|---|
| Store offline | Paper backup in a safe place |
| Use a password manager | Encrypted storage like 1Password |
| Keep it secret | Never share with anyone |
| Have a backup | In case you lose access |
Don'ts
| Never Do This | Risk |
|---|---|
| Screenshot and save to photos | Anyone with phone access can see |
| Send via email/text | Can be intercepted |
| Store in cloud (Google Drive, iCloud) | Can be hacked |
| Share with "support" | Scam - we NEVER ask for keys |
Why Non-Custodial Matters
Real Risks of Custodial Platforms
| Event | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Company bankruptcy | Your funds locked or lost |
| Platform hack | All user funds stolen |
| Regulatory freeze | Can't withdraw |
| Company shutdown | Funds potentially gone |
With Polyfollow (Non-Custodial)
| Event | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Company issues | Export key, use wallet anywhere |
| Platform offline | Your wallet still works on-chain |
| Regulatory concerns | Your funds are yours - no freeze |
| Server problems | Import to MetaMask, trade directly |
Your wallet exists on the Polygon blockchain, not on our servers.
Using Your Wallet Outside Polyfollow
With your exported private key, you can:
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Import to MetaMask | Settings → Import Account → Paste key |
| View on Polygonscan | Enter address on polygonscan.com |
| Trade on Polymarket directly | Access your positions without us |
| Send funds anywhere | Full control over transfers |
Frequently Asked Questions
"Does Polyfollow have access to my funds?"
No. We can sign transactions on your behalf for copytrading (that's how we execute trades), but we cannot:
- Withdraw to any address not owned by you
- Lock or freeze your funds
- Deny you access to your own wallet
"What happens if Polyfollow shuts down?"
- Export your private key (do this now as a backup!)
- Import into MetaMask or any Polygon wallet
- Access your funds directly on-chain
- Trade on Polymarket using their direct interface
"Is my private key stored securely?"
Yes. Your private key is:
- Encrypted at rest with AES-256 encryption
- Never stored in plain text
- Only decrypted momentarily when exporting or signing trades
- Not accessible to our team
Best Practices
- Export and backup your private key immediately after signup
- Store it offline - paper in a safe, or hardware password manager
- Test it works - import into MetaMask once to confirm
- Never share - no legitimate support will ever ask for it
- Keep USDC only - don't send random tokens to this wallet
